Apron for Thelma, closeup
Design: Cherry Collection, OESD. Lettering: Bernina Artista's Anniverysary
Apron for Thelma
Pocket embellished with mini and large rickrack. Over the shoulders are the tea towel yardage that was the inspiration for the apron design. Thelma choose that yardage from my stash, and then I did the apron to go along with them.
Sew Chic's Clara Bow apron, modified
Sew Chic's Clara Bow apron
Modified: shortened by about a foot, added embroidery to bib, piping around edge, tiny lace trim on pockets, changed bow. Made loop separate, so it just slips in, rather than being tied

Bias bound apron
Binding attached using Bernina's bias binding attachment. Fabric is of the London subway system. Sarah lived there for a year, so I thought this might be fun for her, though she is likely to tell me she already has enough aprons!
I am eagerly looking for suggestions on using this attachment better. I want to avoid the cupping you see on the right shoulder (left side of picture) and elsewhere. I was able to press most of it out, but I'd like to avoid it altogether! I use a stiletto to coax the fabric in right next to the fold, and in doing so, especially on curves, I end up easing it in, resulting in more fabric than binding and resulting in the cupping/puckering problem. I haven't found any help online anywhere so hope someone can help!
Apron pattern from Retro Aprons by Cindy Taylor Oates.
I started off embroidering the bib and made a booboo... and then a further booboo in the form of a hole in trying to remove the stitches. So this bib is to save it! The original idea for the pocket was a different design (the cherry design you see on the other apron, same fabric) but I didn't think it well with the soft colours in the bib. So... that pocket went on the other apron. Designs: bib: OESD's Old Orchard; pocket: Embroidery Library. I do wish I'd gone for a softer colour on the pocket design for the outline stitches!

All designs: OESD's Old Orchard. I intended to give the cherry apron made last year (red gingham and black background cherry print) at a bridal shower... that didn't work out, but I told the bride I would be sending her an apron. So here, finally! is her apron.
